Walter J. Reyes

Walter Reyes, 53, of Bronx, NY, formerly of Milwaukee, WI went to his eternal reward to meet Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary on July 25, 2021 surrounded by prayer and his closest family at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee. He was known by most as “Coki” though he also went by “Coco”. I just called him “Bro”. Walter was born on November 25, 1967 in Utuado, Puerto Rico, the son of Manuel Reyes and Hilda Montalvo. He was the oldest of 3 siblings, himself, his sister Omayra and brother Henry. On July 13, 2013 he married the girl of his dreams, Jesusa Ortiz. He loved talking about, playing, collecting and listening to Latin Music, especially Salsa, Merengue, Bachata and Trio Music. When he was younger, he enjoyed playing little league baseball. Later he enjoyed biking, basketball, watching sports and playing music at family parties and special occasions. Most of all he loved to talk and laugh with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his closest cousin with whom he shared a birthday, Warren Montalvo, also preceded by his aunts Eloina, Carmen, Toñita and uncles Faustino, Roberto, Eduardo, Luis and others. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jesusa; his parents Manuel and Hilda, his sister Omayra and her husband Edwin, nephews Emmanuel and Edwin, Jr., his brother Henry and his wife Patricia, niece Jaziel, and nephews Marcos, Andrés, Eliseo, and Isaías as well as many other uncles, aunts, cousins and friends. We just want to let him know that he did a great job as an uncle. He kept all the little gifts and drawings that his little nephews sent him. He sent them birthday and Christmas blessings and gifts. His wife appreciated his romantic ways. All the little details, and the little poems he composed for her including the phrase that appeared in their wedding “You are the love that dwells in my heart.” We will miss your infectious smile, your sense of humor, your love of music and your cool, calm and collected attitude. But we know, Coki, that you will soon be enjoying the reward of your faithfulness to Jesus Christ, your love, patience and concern for others in the midst of all your own sufferings, your faith in God’s plan through all your ups and downs and your hope that someday, some way your innumerable visits to doctors, hospitals, and clinics would be nothing in comparison to life eternal, a life of perfect health and perfect joy, where the celebration never stops and the music is heavenly. ~ with love, your little brother Amore.
