Cynthia Glenzer Strauss

Cynthia Glenzer Strauss, 72, of Greenfield, Wisconsin, died of cancer on January 1, 2024, at home with her sister and brother present. Cindy was born November 15, 1951, in Stevens Point to the late Lawrence and Alberta (Wood) Glenzer. She graduated from P. J. Jacobs High School in 1969. Cindy later attended Mount Mary College in 1995, graduating Magna cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. She was a brilliant woman with exceptional organizational skills. Cindy wed Carl H. Strauss in 1989 and was happily married until his passing in May 2000. Cindy was a wonderful sister, aunt, and friend with a great sense of humor. She loved children, art, music, and had a great passion for the work of Frank Lloyd Wright. Early on, Cindy learned to play the piano and continued her eclectic love of music later by attending musical performances with close friends in Wisconsin. She crocheted and developed jewelry making skills, creating lovely accessories for her friends and family. Christmas was Cindy’s favorite holiday. She enthusiastically baked sweet treats and was very generous giving gifts for all occasions. Cindy also volunteered for the Retired Milwaukee Sheriffs’ Employee Association and the Milwaukee County Sheriffs’ Historical Memorial. While she spent her last two years fighting cancer courageously and without complaint, she lived life to the fullest—sharing lunches with friends and family, making short trips for exploration, antiquing, and showing great love to those around her. Cindy is survived by her siblings Laurence (Karoleen) Glenzer, Jr., Kurt (Diane) Glenzer, and Judy Glenzer (Brian Stotesbery). She had six nieces and nephews: Anne Glenzer, Dawn (Dean) Wroblewski, Laura Aldinger, Laurence (Laura) Glenzer III, Samuel (Blake) Glenzer and Amanda Glenzer. She has five great nieces and nephews: Matthew, Maxwell, Addison, Laurence IV and Joseph. She has one great-great niece, Navaya. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, aunt, uncle, and cousin. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Milwaukee County Sheriffs’ Historical Memorial, 7101 County Line Road, Caledonia, WI, 53402.
