Maria Zielinski

(nee Gizewski) of Milwaukee, WI was taken by angels to celebrate the birth of Christ on December 25, 2021 at the age of 88 years. She was born in Kalusz, Poland in September, 1933 to the late Joseph and Cecilia Gizewski (nee Gross). Maria arrived in the United States with her family by ship in 1950 after WWII. She held many jobs; working on a farm, caregiving, assisting a bakery chef and finally retiring from M&I Bank after 37 years. On October 23, 1954 she married the love of her life, the late Richard Zielinski, with whom she spent 51 years of marriage. They enjoyed dancing Polkas and Waltzes together while gracefully gliding across the dance floor as if they were one. They spent much time together with their family; as well as in casinos playing the slot machines. She was considered the matriarch of the family. Cherished by her large family, she loved cooking pierogi, golabki and baking her famous rum cake, chrusciki and chocolate chip cookies for them to enjoy. Loving mother of John (Denise), Anna (John) Bissell, Michael (fiancée Kelly), Christine (Herb) Pomerich and Mark (April). Grandmother to Kristie, Keith, the late Chad (Carolyn), Michele (Erik), Bryan (fiancé Ashleigh), Danielle, David, Emily (fiancé Kory), Graysen, Hayley and Kayley. Great-grandmother to Alyssa, Alex, Piper, Clyde, Fischer, Addison, Keira, Ryleigh, Kynlee, Ayla, and Brooks. Cherished sister to Chester, Rudy, Anna, Theresa, Cecilia, Sister-in-law Auria, and caring aunt to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband Richard Zielinski, parents Joseph and Cecilia Gizewski, sister Josephine Hwilka, brothers Peter and Joseph, daughter-in-law Cindy and grandson Chad. Visitation Tuesday, January 4 at the ROZGA-WALLOCH CHAPEL from 4:30 to 7:00 PM with a Vigil Service at 6:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, 11:00 AM at ST. ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH (1810 W. Bolivar Ave.). Please meet directly at Church. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery.
