Thomas Wojnar "Tom"

Thomas “Tom” Wojnar passed away unexpectedly during his annual travels to attend a spiritual conference and visit loved ones. He was the husband of Eleanor (Ellie) Wojnar and dear father of Amanda “Mandy” and Christopher “Chris” Wojnar. Grandfather to Luke, Jackson and Jacob Wojnar. Older brother to Paul Wojnar and preceded in death to his parents Casmir and Casmira Wojnar and his younger sister Mary Lewandowski. Dear friend of Andrew “Andy” Sczerba, Oz Manske, and Bill Symanski to name a few. Tom worked for the City of Milwaukee Forestry Department for the duration of his career. Trimming trees, landscaping work, and shoveling snow were some of his favorite activities in life. In his earlier years, he loved running along the Lake Michigan coast and later in life he was an avid recreational bicyclist in the area. Living most of his life in Milwaukee, WI, Tom and Ellie moved to Portland Oregon 8 years ago to be closer to their grandchildren. In Portland, Tom loved to watch and attend athletic events of Luke, Jackson, and Jacob. In times alone, he loved to walk up Mt. Tabor which he referred to as 'his mountain’. Seven of the 8 years in Portland were spent living at St. Anthony’s Village where Tom shared in the community; told stories over puzzles; and kept the grounds clean on his daily walks. A continual spiritual seeker in life, Tom was active in the Eckankar religion and church for over forty years - attending services in both Milwaukee and Portland and volunteering his landscaping services to the spiritual center. He loved to read and reread his Eckankar books and discuss deeper questions about spirituality in life and death to just about anyone who would listen. His ‘best' books were held together by duck tape. Please join us in honoring and remembering the life of Tom. Attendees are encouraged to share a story about Tom to honor his memory…just like he would have wanted. In lieu of flowers you can plant a tree of your choice in a Milwaukee County Park through parkpeoplemke.org or contribute to replanting a sustainable forest in an area such as Oregon through the Arbor Day Foundation which is endorsed by the City of Milwaukee Forestry Department. Memorial Gathering Friday, November 21 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM at the ROZGA FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICES – ROZGA-WALLOCH CHAPEL followed by a Time of Remembrance at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are encouraged to share stories, memories, or a profound moment they shared with Tom during the Time of Remembrance. Please allow only 1 to 3 minutes of speaking time for sharing.
