Deborah L. Kordus-Popovic Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Deborah L. Kordus-Popovic (nee Merritt) beloved mother, cherished daughter, and devoted sister was born to Eternal Life on January 5, 2021 at the age of 66 years. Debbie was preceded in death by her father Richard Merritt. She is survived by her mother Jeanette Wisniewski, son Richard Kordus (Kelley), sisters Margie Zeman (Mike), Diane Kubicki (Greg), Dawn DeLucia (Joe), and Kim Merritt, her uncle Dave Balkowski (Carol), and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Debbie was born on December of 1954, the first of five daughters. She had a talent for archery starting at a young age. She had a fondness for animals and took in as many as she could care for throughout her life. She had a love for music and learned to play multiple instruments including accordion, banjo, guitar, harmonica, and piano. She enjoyed spending time Up North at the cottage with family. She also had a passion for thrift store shopping and at one point opened her own thrift shop. She graduated from MATC and worked at the Jones Island Water Reclamation Facility. She spent the last several years of her life living at the Golden Oaks Home in New Berlin. The residents became family to her and she was truly happy living there. A special thanks to Char Williams and all of the workers at Golden Oaks whom she adored and we thank you for loving her as we did. She was a breast cancer survivor in the last year of her life. Covid-19 took her from us quickly and before her time. In her last conversation she wanted her family to know, "I will be alright. I love you all." She was not afraid and always had faith in God. Visitation Saturday, January 16 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at the FUNERAL HOME followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon. Private Cremation to follow.
