Josephine "Josy" Santiago

Josephine “Josy” Santiago, 63, passed away October 10, 2019 after a long fight with cancer surrounded by her family. Visitation will be held Friday, October 18 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Rozga-Walloch Funeral Home (4309 s. 20th St, Milwaukee). Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Home Cemetery. Josephine Santiago was born to Antonia Torres and Angel Rivera on August 5th, 1956 in Philadelphia. She would later move to Puerto Rico making many lifelong friends. Josy would later meet her future husband, Jose Santiago, in Puerto Rico and they would spend the next 36 years together, growing their family in Milwaukee, WI. Josy retired from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections after 16 years. She was an active member of Luz A Las Naciones IMU where she enjoyed women’s retreats and helping out in Centro Ebenezer. She enjoyed selling Avon, spending time with her family and friends, and partaking in her women’s outings. Josy was a strong, independent women that was proud of each of her children. Josy is survived by her husband Jose; children: Wandy (Jungo) Gonzlez of Orlando, FL, David (Missy) DeJesus of Erin, WI, Wally (Misael) Lopez of Oviedo, FL, Chely (Hecty Rivera) Santiago of Menomonee Falls, WI, Bebo (Andrea Rivera) Santiago of Milwaukee, WI, Jose (Megan) Santiago of Oviedo, FL; grandchildren: Keishla (Alex), Mayrelix, Sheyla, Danielito, Jay, Christian, David V. Deryka, Christian, Aaron, and Lindzy; grandpuppy: Brauny; one brother: Angel (Wanda) Rivera of Mayaguez, PR; In-laws: Mirna (Raul) Santiago of Coamo, PR, Bruny Santiago and Luis A. (Ilsa) Santiago of Milwaukee, WI, Jose A. (Lilliam) Santiago of Aibonito, PR. Josy was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Angel Emil Gonzalez. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Eilin Cardona for being there with Josy in her last moments and to all of Josy’s dear friends that continuously called on her as she fought cancer. A special thanks to the staff at Advent Health Hospital in Orlando, FL where Josy was comforted in her last few months of life. El servicio fúnebre se llevará acabo el viernes, 18 de octubre a la 1:00pm en Rozga Funeral Home en Milwaukee, seguido por el entierro en el Forest Home Cementery. Luego se mudó a Puerto Rico donde hizo amistades de toda la vida. Josy luego conoció a su futuro esposo, José Santiago, en Puerto Rico y pasarían los próximos 36 años juntos creciendo su familia en Milwaukee, WI. Josy se retiró del Departamento de Correcciones del Estado de Wisconsin después de 16 años. Fue un miembro activa de la Iglesia Metodista Unida Luz a las Naciones donde ella disfrutaba los retiros de mujeres y ayudar en el Centro Ebenezer. Le encantaba vender Avon, pasar tiempo con su familia y amistades y participar de las salidas de mujeres. Josy era una mujer fuerte e independiente que estaba orgullosa de cada uno de sus hijos. (Ilsa) Santiago de Milwaukee, WI, José A. (Lilliam) Santiago de Aibonito, PR. Josy fue precedida en muerte por sus padres y su nieto Ángel Emil González. La familia quiere extender un agradecimiento especial a Eilin Cardona por estar con Josy en su último momento y a todas las amistades queridas de Josy por sus llamadas continuas mientras que ella batallaba el cáncer. Un agradecimiento especial al personal del hospital Advent Health en Orlando, FL donde Josy fue confortada durante sus últimos meses de vida.
