Ruth M. Walker

(nee Januchowski) Born to Eternal Life surrounded by her family on March 19th, 2022 at the age of 95 years. Preceded in death by Sylvester, her devoted husband of 70 years. Dear mother of the late Karen (Chum) Van Hefty, Glen, Daniel (Heidi), Debra (Matthew) Swieciak, Brian and Mark (Steve). Loving grandmother of Mark, Mike, Steven, Michael and Rebecca Van Hefty, Brenton Walker, Amanda Olazabal, Patrick Walker, Corey Swieciak, Jessica Smith, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends. Ruth was born on June 21st, 1926 in Milwaukee where she grew up, was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church. She graduated from Girls Tech High School in 1944 and became a true “Techie” in her twilight years mastering the computer, iPhone, Facebook, Facetime, texting and emailing. She enjoyed learning how to send pictures to family and friends. Ruth had various jobs such as a dental assistant, keypunch operator, working in daycare and Girl Scout leader, but her true passion was a homemaker and caring for her many grandchildren. She was a proud of her 16 years as a Navy Wife and spoke fondly of this time, especially the three years they were stationed on the island of Guam in the South Pacific. Ruth and Syl enjoyed traveling and camping, but later in life she kept occupied with board games, crossword puzzles, game shows, Scratch-off cards and trips to Potawatomi. Ruth was not a big fan of flowers at funerals and specifically told us “Tell them to buy some scratch-off cards instead”. Flowers are certainly welcomed, of course, as are donations to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Aurora Hospice Team for their help during her final days. Visitation Saturday, April 2 from 9:30 – 11:30 AM at ST. ROMAN CHURCH (1810 W.
