September 3, 2019
Passed peacefully on September 3, 2019 at the age of 85 at the VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. Wally was preceded in death by his loving parents, Edmund and Mary and is survived by brothers Dan and Carl. Wally was a Korean War veteran, who served his country from 1952 thru 1954. Wally married Kathleen in 1955 and they embarked on a life long journey of love that included quite the legacy of children! He was preceded in death by eldest son John, and is survived by daughter-in-law Barb, sons Bill (Jan), Joe, Bob, Jim (Rosie), Tom (Nancy) and Mike (Paulette), and daughters Mary (Greg Witkowski) and Anne (Jeff Halamka). He was the loving grandpa and great grandpa of many! Wally is also survived and will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Dad enjoyed socializing with others over a round of golf, a few games of bowling, or over a beer at the local tavern. He was an avid sports fan especially of the Brewers and Packers. He had much fun on casino excursions with the HA Todd American Legion Post 537 with son-in-law Greg. He was able to travel to Washington DC on an Honor Flight with son Tom and he talked about that experience often, it was an incredible day that was very special to him. He also enjoyed volunteering at the VA Medical Center, where spending time playing cards and talking with fellow veterans gave him great joy. The family would like to thank the staff at both the Villa St Francis and the VA Medical Center for taking such wonderful care of our Dad. We cannot thank them enough! Especially, Jorji (and her entire staff) at Villa St Francis and Gina Hart and the Palliative Care team at the VA Medical Center. Visitation Tuesday Sept. 10 at the Rozga Funeral Home (703 W. Lincoln Ave.) from 8:30 to 10:15 AM. Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM at the BASILICA OF ST. JOSAPHAT (601 W. Lincoln Ave) with Military Honors to follow at the Church. Private interment Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
