Dr. Cedor B. Aronow II

Cedor B. Aronow II, age 89, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 4, 2026, reuniting with his beloved wife, Noreen (née Quirk). Cedor was born on February 26, 1937, in Shelby, Montana, along Montana’s rugged highline. He spent his youth working on farms and oilfields and enjoying the great outdoors, including summers hiking the mountains of Glacier National Park. These experiences developed his resilience and shaped his lifelong appreciation for nature and exploration. Cedor’s journey in medicine began at Gonzaga University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He went on to receive his medical degree from Saint Louis University (where he met Noreen), completing his internship at Milwaukee County General Hospital and his residency at Milwaukee Children’s Hospital. It was there that his lifelong dedication to children and children’s health took root. He became a board certified pediatrician whose calling was evident to all who knew him. From 1965 to 1967, Cedor proudly served his country as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Corps, working as a pediatrician at Womack Army Hospital at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Throughout his career, Cedor was widely regarded as a great pediatrician, devoted to his patients and their families, deeply respected by colleagues, and beloved by generations of families he served. Known for his wisdom, integrity, and direct style, he practiced medicine with skill, common sense, and affection; often with a veiled sense of humor. He offered thoughtful guidance to parents, served as a trusted mentor to younger physicians, and played a key leadership role as a founder and partner in the multi specialty Milwaukee Medical Clinic. A lifelong fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics, Cedor expanded his influence on pediatric healthcare through leadership, serving as president of the Milwaukee Pediatric Society, Chief of the Divisions of Pediatrics, Medicine, and Ambulatory Services at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and Chief of Pediatrics at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee. He instructed medical students as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical College of Wisconsin, and volunteered in local schools teaching youth health and development. He volunteered for the Underground Switchboard’s free medical clinic and the Traveling Medicine Show, providing emergency services at stadium rock-and-roll concerts. His influence and values left a lasting imprint on the medical community. Beyond his professional life, Cedor was generous with his time and friendship. He believed deeply in the values of Scouting, which he first learned as a Boy Scout in Shelby, Montana. The untimely passing of his Scoutmaster and the dissolution of his troop left Cedor at the rank of Star Scout. When his son, Michael, advanced to Webelos, “Doc” rekindled his love of Scouting as an Assistant Pack Leader with Pack 397 at St. Eugene School in Fox Point, Wisconsin. He continued in Scouting for nearly four decades in leadership roles. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 380 at Maple Dale School, served Milwaukee County Council as Campmaster Coordinator, Unit Commissioner, Merit Badge Counsellor, Assistant Scoutmaster of Powderhorn training programs, and Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster at National Jamborees. He was a long-time member of the Council Health and Safety Committee, Chairman of the Outdoor Program Committee, and member of the Council Executive Board until 2014. He volunteered as a Camp Physician at LeFeber Northwoods Camps and Indian Mound Reservation, and eliminated barriers to the outdoors by providing physical exams at no charge to youth to attend summer camp. He made possible an expansion of the dining hall at LNC through his generous gift to the Council. Cedor was recognized for his service, receiving the District Award of Merit, the District Scoutmaster Award, and, in 1994, the highest national honor a local Scouting Council can bestow on a volunteer: the Silver Beaver Award. Doc found joy and friendship through his volunteer work with the Order of the Arrow, where he received the Vigil Honor in 1991. He served The Order as Lodge Advisor, Vigil Honor Advisor, and Vice Chief of Operations, among other advisory roles. He attended National Order of the Arrow Conferences, frequently in a leadership capacity. Cedor discovered an interest in the history of Scouting when he became an avid patch collector, a hobby that brought him great personal satisfaction during the final three decades of his life. Cedor enjoyed fishing in the remote, northern forests of Ontario, and time with friends over a glass of Jameson. He volunteered with the WiSE Division of the National Model Railroad Association and served on the Trainfest Committee. He was a 3rd Degree brother of the Catholic Fraternal order Knights of Columbus. He was unfailingly curious and found meaning in offering his wisdom to help others. Cedor will be remembered as a devoted physician, mentor, leader, friend, and father whose compassion, integrity, and guidance touched countless lives. Cedor is survived by his children Natalie Aronow, Kathleen (Tom) Rushing, Mary Ellen (Joe Burns) Aronow, and Michael (Cori) Aronow; his grandchildren Nate, Henry, Edward, and Katya; and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Cedor was preceded in death by his wife Noreen; his sisters Marcia and Natasha; and his parents, Cedor and Jane. In Milwaukee: Memorial Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2026 from 10:30 AM until 11:45 AM at ST. EUGENE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7600 N. Port Washington Rd, Fox Point, Wisconsin followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. A gathering of family and friends to follow immediately at a nearby venue. In Whitefish, Montana: A second Memorial Visitation and celebration of life will be held in late August, 2026. In lieu of flowers, we suggest a lasting tribute in honor of Dr. Cedor B.
