Jon A. “Papa” Lippmann died peacefully with his family present May 1, 2025 at the age of 82 years. In Loving Memory of Our Dad Our father was a remarkable man—hardworking, curious, and deeply devoted to his family. He loved to learn and pursued education for over a decade after high school, ultimately becoming a pharmacist. But beyond his professional accomplishments, he built a life filled with love, adventure, and dedication. As kids, he gave us the gift of experience—camping trips, fishing excursions, road trips, cruises, and so many weekends in Madison cheering on the UW men’s hockey team and eating at our favorite spot, Paisan’s. He provided for us in every way imaginable. He wasn’t just a father—he was a builder, a fixer, a teacher, and a rock. He literally built our home and could fix anything, even our broken toys. But his proudest role was as Papa, who started “Papa Daycare” after his retirement—a grandfather who gave his time, love, and support so freely. He watched over his grandchildren for hours, always making sure they felt safe, loved, and provided for. He carried that same devotion he had for us into the next generation. He had a stubborn streak—one of many things we loved about him. He was a man of tradition. Each fall, he prepared his firewood for winter, and each winter, he made sure we had a fire burning. He kept himself strong and fit—coming home from work to exercise almost every day, and in summer, he swam laps in the pool. Ever the engineer, he even built his own solar-powered heating pump for that pool. He also loved to eat. He would always have seconds on dessert when available. He was a great cook—from his family’s pea soup, to breakfast crepes, to Italian sausages with potatoes. He loved his Dalmatians—beginning with Spot the First, all the way through to Spot the Third. His loyalty ran deep, and not just with pets. He never missed a birthday or special occasion. He was there. Always. He was the patriarch of our family—the steady hand, the voice of wisdom, the heart of our home. We will never forget the beaches of California, the cruises we traveled on, the fishing trips to Canada, the camping adventures, or the road trips to Michigan. He loved the University of Wisconsin–Madison and cheered with pride for their hockey, basketball, and football teams—and of course, the Green Bay Packers. He showered us with gifts, life lessons, and most of all—love. We miss you, Dad. You were everything a father should be. And more. From Joy My dear Jon loved his family more than anything—well, maybe food came close! He loved eating, traveling, and a good adventure. We all enjoyed being together as a family for birthdays, holidays, and vacations. He was the heart and head of our loving family, and he made every moment together special. He will be missed so deeply by all of us. Loved beyond words. Jon was the beloved husband of Joy Lippmann (nee Halberstadt) for 24 years. Loving father of Abby (Mike) Lippmann and Darren (Anji) Lippmann. Proud “Papa” of Alexadra Lippmann, Owen Lippmann, Ardelle Lippmann, Landon Lippmann, Evelyn Kousek, Evan Lippmann, Abraham Lippmann and Liam Kousek. Brother of the late Rick (Bobbi) Lippmann, Cheri Lippmann and Terry Serio and brother-in-law of John Halberstadt and Lesley Zoromski. Uncle of Rachael Ramirez, Amy Zimmer, Justin Zimmer, Sarah Ponce and Lauren Huett. Jon is further survived by Leanne Lippmann the mother of Abby and Darren, Brad Kousek the son of Joy Lippmann and his step-mother Barbara Lippmann. He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Irene Lippmann.
